- ItemDicom image handling for medical analysis and the ViVa project(1998) Donizelli, Marco; Giachetti, Andrea; Scheinine, AlanThe aim of this work was to build the basic system for medical image retrieval and elaboration suitable for the ViVa Project, aiming at building, from clinical data, virtual vascular systems where also blood flow fields can be simulated and analysed.
- ItemDistributed quantitative evaluation of 3D patient specific arterial models(2002) Giachetti, Andrea; Tuveri, Massimiliano; Zanetti, GianluigiIn this paper we describe a new system for the 3D reconstruction and distribution on the net of models for vessels structures. The system is specifically designed to support measurements of medical interest. We describe 2D and 3D segmentation methods implemented and the procedure used to build interactive VRML97 models. The experimental section presents a comparison between segmentation methods, and a first application to surgical planning for endovascular repair of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms.
- ItemMeasurable models of abdominal aortic aneurysms on the web(2001) Giachetti, Andrea; Tuveri, Massimiliano; Zanetti, GianluigiIn this paper we describe a method for 3D reconstruction and web distribution of vessel structures specifically designed to allow the remote measurement of parameters of surgical interest. Deformable models are used for segmentation, while VRML and ECMA scripting are used to obtain 3D models that are not only viewable from any VRML97 enabled browser, but that also allow users to interact with the model, navigate along the vessel lumen and perform guided measurements of distance and angles.
- ItemWeb based 3D quantitative measurements of abdominal aortic aneurysms(2001) Giachetti, Andrea; Tuveri, Massimiliano; Zanetti, Gianluigi; Piccinini, E.We tested a novel approach for the quantitative remote analysis of abdominal aortic aneurysms by reconstructing their 3D geometry and topological structure (i.e. centereline path) and put them on the web as VRML97 models including specialized code enabling the user to perform guided inspection and measurements useful for surgical planning.
- ItemWeb distribution of patient specific measurable arterial models(2000) Giachetti, Andrea; Camba, Monica; Tuveri, Massimiliano; Zanetti, GianluigiIn this communication a novel framework for the segmentation, 3D reconstruction and web distribution of vessel structures is presented. Deformable models are used for segmentation, VRML and ECMA scripting are used to obtain 3D models that are not only viewable from any VRML97 enabled browser, but that also allow users to interact with the model, to navigate along the vessel lumen and to perform guided measurements of distances and angles. The segmented data are automatically converted in VRML97 worlds hiding scripting code that enables the measurement of the geometrical parameters relevant for surgical planning directly from standard web browsers.
